Ekiti Man Arrested for Attempted Ritual Sacrifice of His 7-Year-Old Nephew
The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Solomon Fabiyi, for allegedly attempting to use his seven-year-old nephew, Jomiloju, in a money ritual. The disturbing plot was foiled when police were tipped off and arrested Fabiyi before he could carry out the crime.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, Fabiyi, who resides with his parents and the victim in Ado-Ekiti, was taken into custody on Friday, February 14, 2025. Fabiyi was apprehended at around 7:00 PM, just as he was on the verge of carrying out the ritualistic act.
SP Abutu confirmed that Fabiyi admitted to the crime and has already been charged. He explained that a tip-off led to the swift intervention of the police, preventing the horrific act from occurring.
A viral video that surfaced on social media showed Fabiyi confessing to the crime. He revealed that a local herbalist had instructed him to find a person for the ritual, assuring him that the child would not die but would suffer from a mysterious ailment as part of the process.
In an unexpected turn of events, the herbalist, upon realizing that Fabiyi was bringing the child to perform the ritual, alerted the police. This crucial tip-off led to Fabiyi’s arrest before any harm could come to his nephew.
