“El-Rufai Faces Criticism from Sani and Odinkalu After Attacking APC and Tinubu”
Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, has issued a stern warning to political parties and individuals considering collaboration with ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. This caution follows sharp criticisms from former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani, who lambasted El-Rufai for his recent political remarks attacking President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Sani, known for his outspoken views, accused El-Rufai of practicing tyranny during his tenure as governor, questioning his sudden shift to advocating for democracy after leaving office. El-Rufai had previously criticized his own party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), for straying from its foundational principles and for promoting what he described as poor leadership.
“You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today,” El-Rufai stated. He further intensified his criticism, claiming that the APC and the nation were facing a monumental existential crisis.
In response to El-Rufai’s continued attacks on the APC and Tinubu’s government, Odinkalu took to social media on Thursday, warning that any political party or individual seeking to align with the former governor is bound for failure. “I keep saying it: Any party or person that seeks to work with him towards a national platform is & will be doomed,” Odinkalu posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Odinkalu’s statement underscores the growing rift within Nigerian politics as prominent figures like El-Rufai, Sani, and Odinkalu continue to clash over political ideologies and leadership.
