“Eliminate All Bandits” – Army Chief Declares War in Katsina
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, has issued a strong statement, vowing that the Nigerian military will intensify its efforts to completely eradicate bandits and restore peace to the country. This declaration came after his operational visit to the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Natsinta, Katsina, on Wednesday, where he was received by the Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Babatunde Omopariola.
During the visit, Lt Gen. Oluyede explained the purpose of his trip was to evaluate the brigade’s operational performance, address any challenges, and ensure that the troops were equipped to carry out their mission efficiently. He noted that the brigade had made significant strides, which was why he was there to further encourage them to ramp up their efforts.
“You will agree with me that the Brigade has been doing well,” he said. “I have come to urge them to do more so that we can eliminate all these bandits from the state and make it safer for everyone.”
Lt Gen. Oluyede emphasized that the army’s commitment to defending Nigeria remains unwavering. He urged his troops to stay focused and sustain their operations until the complete eradication of bandits in the region. “Our core responsibility as soldiers is to defend Nigeria, and within that role, it is critical for us to eliminate all the bandits in this area to ensure that Nigerians can live in peace,” he stressed.
The message was clear: the battle against banditry is far from over, and the army is determined to push until all threats are neutralized.
