Ensure rule of law, justice for Nigerians – NAWOJ to new CJN Kekere-ekun

Women Journalists in the country have challenged the newly sworn-in Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun to use her position to promote the rule of law, equality and justice for the Nigerian citizenry irrespective of their status.

The media practitioners said unless the rule of law, equity and justice are promoted, national security and peace may continue to elude the nation.

The women journalists operating under the umbrella of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ expressed happiness with President Bola Tinubu for the prompt inauguration of Justice Kekere-Ekun as acting CJN.

In a statement on Monday in Abuja, the National Chairperson of the Association, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim stated that since the inception of the administration, the President has continued to ensure gender inclusion in the appointment of women into key offices in government.

NAWOJ’s statement was made public by its National Secretary, Wasilah Ladan.

The National Chairperson has therefore urged the women folk who are so appointed to head some key positions in the country to serve with commitment, dedication, uprightness and due diligence in all capacities and remain role models for future generations to come.

“All eyes are on women in leadership; please, it is time to disprove the myth about the lack-lustre performance of women in governance and prove to the world that women are imbued with the capacity to achieve results in whatever tasks they are saddled with.

She further urged women to shun any form of misconduct which may tarnish the image of women or dent the integrity of womanhood by creating doubts about their leadership capacities.

Mrs Ibrahim further said, “Lead with every sense of humour and be proactive. We are women and we are proud to be one.”
