“Fake Cop Caught on Ogun Bridge: Man Arrested for Impersonation”
A 52-year-old man, Harry Collins, has been arrested by the police in Ogun State for impersonating a police officer on the Long Bridge, Warewa. According to a statement issued by the Ogun Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the suspect was fully dressed in a police uniform, including a sergeant’s rank.
Collins was apprehended on February 20, around 2:10 p.m. during a reconnaissance patrol led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations. The patrol team became suspicious of Collins’ presence on the bridge and swiftly carried out his arrest.
Upon questioning, Collins could not provide a credible explanation for his impersonation, raising further concerns about his intentions. Odutola confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to uncover his motives and any possible involvement in criminal activities.
The suspect is expected to be charged to court once the investigation is completed. Meanwhile, the Ogun Police Command has issued a warning to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals.
