Father Kills 4-Year-Old Son in Benin City After Consuming Illicit Drugs

The Edo State Police Command has arrested Theophilus Osazuwa for allegedly killing his four-year-old son, Testimony Osazuwa, in an incident that took place on Tuesday afternoon in Benin City.

According to the police spokesperson, Moses Yamu, the tragic event occurred at around 12:30 p.m. when Osazuwa returned to his apartment at Ogbeson Quarters, off Benin-Agbor Road. Reports indicate that Osazuwa, known for his use of illicit substances, fell into a trance shortly after entering his home.

While in this altered state, Osazuwa reportedly began shouting “Holy Ghost fire” before violently grabbing his son and slamming him against a wall. The child, who was rushed to the hospital, was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect’s actions were likely influenced by the consumption of illicit drugs, which he is known to abuse. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Umoru Ozigi, has issued a stern warning to youths about the dangers of using illicit substances, emphasizing their detrimental effects on both health and safety.
