Federal Government Reaffirms Commitment to Boosting Collaboration with Indigenous Oil Service Providers
fgThe Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening partnerships with indigenous oil service providers as a vital strategy for increasing crude oil production and driving growth in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), made this declaration during his visit to Geoplex Oilfield Services and WCS facilities in Port Harcourt. The Minister emphasized that achieving the country’s production targets is reliant on solid collaborations with local oil service providers.
“Our goal to increase production will remain unachievable without strong partnerships with oil service providers, particularly indigenous ones. With the renewed strategies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, we are taking deliberate steps to ensure that these collaborations succeed,” Lokpobiri stated.
During his visit, the Minister praised Geoplex Oilfield Services for its state-of-the-art facilities, noting that the company has the capacity to compete with global oil service providers. “It is clear from my inspection that Geoplex is well-equipped to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry at the same level as international companies. Their commitment to maintaining global standards is highly commendable,” he added.
Wole Ogunsanya, Chairman of Geoplex Group, expressed gratitude to the government for recognizing the contributions of indigenous firms to the sector. He reaffirmed Geoplex’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s production goals with excellence and innovation. “Our investments, facilities, and technical expertise are all designed to complement the government’s efforts to increase production,” Ogunsanya said.
The inspection underscored the critical role indigenous companies play in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, with Lokpobiri stressing the need for a favorable business environment and sustained investment to empower local service providers. He pointed out that such partnerships are at the heart of President Tinubu’s vision to revitalize the oil sector and cement Nigeria’s position as Africa’s top oil producer.
“The work being done here is exemplary. Companies like Geoplex are demonstrating that indigenous firms can provide world-class services. With their dedication, we are confident that the future of Nigeria’s oil sector is secure,” Lokpobiri concluded.
The Federal Government’s renewed focus on indigenous oil service providers aligns with its broader objectives of maximizing local content, creating jobs, and fostering economic growth. The government continues to work towards creating a supportive environment for these firms, enabling them to reach their full potential and achieve Nigeria’s oil production goals.
