“Federal High Court Rejects PDP’s Anyanwu’s Request to Block INEC Actions”
The Federal High Court in Abuja has denied an ex-parte application by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from enforcing his removal.
On Wednesday, Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled that, although the matter was urgent, granting the reliefs sought without hearing from the defendants would be improper. He ordered Anyanwu to notify INEC and other involved parties, allowing them to present their arguments before any decision is made.
Anyanwu, through his counsel, Ken Njemanze (SAN), had requested the court to prevent INEC from acting on any communication from the PDP unless signed by him. He also sought an order barring PDP Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagun, from submitting documents to INEC without his approval.
After reviewing the application, Justice Ekwo emphasized the importance of hearing from all parties involved and scheduled the case for hearing on February 24, 2025.
