Felix Morka Responds to Peter Obi’s Alleged Death Threat Claims
Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued a clarification regarding his controversial comments about Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, and the alleged death threats directed at Obi and his family.
Obi recently claimed that Morka’s reaction to his New Year message has triggered threats against his life. In an interview on Arise TV, Morka had stated, “Obi has crossed the line so many times” and added, “whatever he has coming to him, he should manage it.” According to Obi, since that statement, he has received various threatening messages, including threats to his life and the safety of his family.
However, in an appearance on The Morning Show on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Morka explained that his comments were not intended as a threat against Obi. He clarified that the remarks were a response to a question about Obi being labeled a “voodoo economist” and a “prophet of doom,” asserting that the ex-governor of Anambra State had crossed multiple lines of truth.
“I said that if Peter Obi has been called a prophet of doom or a voodoo economist, he has it coming to him because he has crossed several lines of truth,” Morka stated. He dismissed any notion of a threat, emphasizing that the comment was a direct response to Obi’s actions, which Morka described as filled with falsehoods.
Morka also challenged Obi’s claims about receiving death threats, urging the Labour Party leader to provide evidence of the threats. “He who alleges must prove,” Morka remarked. “If Peter Obi says anyone threatened him, he must show some proof beyond just making claims. For a man in his standing, he should supply evidence. If anyone threatened Peter Obi, law enforcement should be investigating, not just having this conversation.”
The APC spokesman insisted that his statement was purely a critique of Obi’s political rhetoric and not a personal threat. He reiterated that Obi deserved the labels because of his false statements, further dismissing the claim that his words implied any harm.
