Fintiri noted, “Not only are we achieving the desired peace, but we are consolidating all the levers of unity that bind us as a people.

“Building on the peace project and the attendant result it provokes, we have initiated far reaching institutional and legal reforms to drive home what defines us as a people – our pluralism, our identity and our pride.”

He added, “We are conscious of the fact that the fundamental answers to the question of a genuine peaceful coexistence can best be found in addressing our diversity, our unity and satisfactorily managing our identity justice system.

“We have equally reappraised the value of our traditional institution and found it highly instrumental to peace building and a major partner in managing the ungoverned spaces in the state.”

The governor stressed that the creation of the new emirates and chiefdoms has already been gazetted for effective administrative purposes.
