Fintiri Approves Selection of New Emirs and Chiefs in Adamawa State

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has announced the approval of two new emirs and five chiefs for the newly established emirates and chiefdoms in the state, as part of his administration’s initiative to strengthen local governance and leadership.

The newly appointed emirs include Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu, who becomes the Emir of Fufore, and Alhaji Ahmadu Saibaru, who has been named the Emir of Maiha. In addition, five new chiefs have been selected for various chiefdoms across the state: Alheri Nyako for Tol Huba in the Hong Chiefdom; Professor Bulus Luka Gadiga for Mbege Ka Michika in the Michika Chiefdom; Dr. Ali Danburam for Ptil Madagali in the Madagali Chiefdom; Aggrey Ali for Kumu of Gombi in the Gombi Chiefdom; and John Dio for Gubo Yungur in the Yungur Chiefdom.

The development was officially communicated on Friday morning by Governor Fintiri’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou. Wonosikou conveyed the governor’s congratulatory message to the new leaders and emphasized that their appointments were based on their merit and their popularity among the people.

Governor Fintiri also called on the newly appointed emirs and chiefs to approach their duties with fairness and responsibility, stressing that their approval takes effect immediately.

This announcement follows the governor’s earlier proclamation on December 23, 2024, in which he revealed the creation of several new emirates and chiefdoms across the state. Four of the new entities, Huba (Hong), Madagali, Michika, and Fufore, have been granted second-class status, while the remaining three—Yungur, Gombi, and Maiha—have been designated third-class status.

Governor Fintiri’s initiative to expand traditional leadership structures in Adamawa aims to bring governance closer to the people and ensure that local leaders effectively represent their communities. The newly appointed leaders are expected to play a pivotal role in fostering unity, peace, and development within their respective domains.
