“Fix Nigeria or I’ll Leave APC” — Senator Ali Ndume Issues Blunt Warning to Tinubu
Outspoken Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume, has issued a bold ultimatum to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that he may walk away from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if the president fails to tackle Nigeria’s deepening crises.
Speaking during a live appearance on Arise Television on Tuesday, Ndume—well-known for his frank political stance—said his patience with the government is wearing thin, warning that blind loyalty to a failing system is not in the nation’s interest.
“If I decide to leave the APC, I won’t hide it,” Ndume declared. “I still believe President Tinubu can fix things. But failure to fix those things may cause me to leave the APC.”
A Party at Risk of Sinking?
Ndume didn’t stop there. The veteran senator, a key figure from Borno State, cautioned that the APC’s aggressive push to attract more politicians—especially defecting governors—could end up destroying the party from within.
“When you overload a ship, it might lead to the capsizing of the party,” Ndume warned. “If Tinubu continues this way, it doesn’t matter if he loads more people or governors; you are just endangering the APC.”
His comments come amid growing internal unrest within the ruling party, with several party loyalists and former allies raising concerns over Tinubu’s policies, leadership style, and the slow pace of reform in critical sectors.
Growing Chorus of Discontent
Senator Ndume’s remarks add to the rising chorus of discontent within the APC, as economic hardship, insecurity, and policy uncertainty continue to weigh heavily on ordinary Nigerians.
While Ndume insists he still has hope that Tinubu can right the ship, his warning underscores the mounting frustration even among the president’s own political base.
As Nigeria braces for what many predict will be an intense political season ahead of the 2027 elections, all eyes are now on Tinubu—not only to govern but to keep his increasingly fractured party from tearing apart.
