A fresh student of the Ondo State-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), identified as Oluwaseun, has been tragically murdered by unknown assailants. The 19-year-old student, who was studying Mass Communication, was found dead on Opomulero Street in Owo, barely a month after starting his studies at the institution.
According to sources, Oluwaseun, a course representative and a budding musician, had only spent three to four weeks on campus before meeting his untimely demise. The motive behind his murder remains unclear, as he was a fresh student with no known ties to secret cults or criminal activities. His death, which involved being brutally macheted, has left the campus community in shock.
Samuel Ojo, the institution’s spokesperson, confirmed the tragic news, calling it an unfortunate incident. The state police command, led by spokesperson Funmi Odunlami, also confirmed the murder, stating that police detectives have launched an investigation into the case.
“This is a suspected murder case,” Odunlami said. “Our men are already working hard to identify the killers, who will be arrested and charged to court for murder.”
Meanwhile, the deceased’s body has been moved to the state specialist hospital in Owo for autopsy, as investigations into the chilling crime continue.
