Ganduje: Kwankwasiyya No Longer Relevant, APC Poised for Victory in Kano
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized the performance of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano, accusing the party’s presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of inflating his popularity in the state. Ganduje claimed that many of Kwankwaso’s supporters are now disillusioned.
Ganduje made these remarks during a dinner hosted by the 8th and 9th APC Kano State House of Assembly Forum to honor prominent party figures. Represented by Abdullahi Abbas, the Kano APC Chairman, Ganduje asserted that without internal challenges faced by the APC in the last election, Kwankwaso would not have been successful in Kano. “Today, even his loyalists are regretting their support. Kwankwasiyya is no longer relevant, and even the current governor seems unaware of the state’s challenges,” Ganduje stated.
He emphasized the importance of unity within the APC as the key to reclaiming political dominance in the state. “Our success lies in unity. God has already shown His support for us. The current administration has failed Kano, and we are ready to take over. The next election will be a straightforward victory for us,” he added.
Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, also called for unity among APC members, pointing out that disunity remains the main obstacle for the party in Kano. “Winning elections is not our concern; if an election were held today, we have no doubts about our chances. Unfortunately, God did not grant us victory in the last elections. Let us remain united and prayerful,” Ata said.
The dinner, which honored notable APC figures like Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Labaran Abdul Madari, and Baffa Babba Danagundi, was attended by a number of dignitaries. Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, was represented by his Chief of Staff, Muhammad Ibn Abdallah, while other national and state APC leaders were also present.
