Garo Calls for Reconciliation Between Kwankwaso and Ganduje for Kano’s Progress
Murtala Sule Garo, the former Kano State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs and the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, has expressed concerns over the ongoing rift between Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, two former governors of Kano State.
The discord between the two political heavyweights, which reportedly began in 2016, has significantly strained relations between the once-close allies, with the rivalry affecting political and developmental discourse in the state.
In a recent meeting with former members of the 8th and 9th Kano State House of Assembly, Garo pleaded for the reconciliation of the two leaders, stressing the importance of putting their personal differences aside for the greater good of Kano State.
“I implore our former governors. It is disheartening to see that in a state like Zamfara, which lags behind Kano in many respects, their former governors have been able to put aside their political differences to sit together and discuss the development of their state,” Garo remarked. “Yet, here in Kano, it is surprising and disappointing that our leaders and elders, particularly our former governors, cannot come together to deliberate on matters that will foster the development of our state.”
Garo emphasized the need for political unity and collaboration, noting that the development of Kano should be a shared priority for all its leaders, regardless of past differences. “We appeal to them, and we pray for them to reconcile and set aside their differences if they truly desire the progress of Kano State,” he concluded.
The call for reconciliation comes at a time when the political landscape of Kano is undergoing significant shifts, with both Kwankwaso and Ganduje remaining influential figures in the state’s politics. Garo’s appeal highlights the potential for unity to foster political stability and sustainable development for the people of Kano.
