“Gombe State ACReSAL Project Establishes Peace-Building Committees to Address Community Threats”
The Gombe State ACReSAL project has set up peace-building committees in key communities to strengthen early warning systems and provide effective responses to potential threats or risks. These committees aim to ensure the smooth implementation of ACReSAL programs and foster a peaceful and cooperative environment in local communities.
During the formation of the peace-building committee at a plant nursery site in Bambam, Balanga Local Government Area, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, the ACReSAL Project Coordinator, encouraged community members to fully support the leadership of the newly established committees. He highlighted the committees’ crucial role in addressing grievances and resolving conflicts that may arise within the community.
Dr. Jauro also emphasized the negative environmental impact of bush burning, linking it to worsening climate change, and urged the community to adopt more sustainable practices. His visit to Kaltungo further underscored the importance of peaceful coexistence and the effective management of ACReSAL investments for long-term success.
In Kaltungo, the Chairperson, Mr. Iliya Suleiman, represented by Deputy Secretary Mrs. Comfort David Ishaku, expressed gratitude for ACReSAL’s efforts and called on the newly appointed committee members to serve as role models for the community.
Other areas included in the initiative are Lasale in Billiri Local Government Area and Kembu in Akko Local Government Area, where similar peace-building efforts are underway to ensure that potential threats are identified and addressed before they escalate.
