Governor Adeleke Charges Corps Members to Embrace NYSC Opportunities
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on the corps members deployed to the state for their mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program to make the most of the opportunities offered by the scheme. Governor Adeleke delivered this message on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony and the official opening of the 2024 Batch C Stream II orientation program at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ede.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of discipline, urging the corps members to be law-abiding and wholeheartedly embrace the core values of Nigeria and the ideals of the NYSC. “Discipline is the foundation of success,” he noted. “I charge you to be law-abiding, disciplined, and fully committed to the ideals of our nation and the NYSC. Your conduct during this orientation will set the tone for a productive service year.”

The governor also encouraged the corps members to represent their families, state, and the country with pride, emphasizing selflessness and tolerance. He urged them to build strong relationships that transcend tribal and religious boundaries, as these connections would help foster unity among Nigeria’s diverse communities.
Governor Adeleke further commended the NYSC for its ongoing contribution to national integration, youth development, and capacity building. “The NYSC has been an essential force in fostering national unity and youth empowerment through its structured programs,” he stated.
Governor Adeleke Praises NYSC’s Role in Youth Development and National Integration
The NYSC State Coordinator for Osun, Agbor Ndoma Obim, revealed that 2,900 corps members were deployed to the state for the service year. Of these, 772 are male and 948 are female, with 1,113 corps members having been transferred from Lagos State. He highlighted that the NYSC remains a crucial national asset, with its four key programs—the Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service (CDS), and Winding-up and Passing-out Ceremony—designed to equip corps members with valuable skills and the discipline needed for meaningful contributions to society.
The State Coordinator also applauded the Osun State Government for its continuous support of the NYSC scheme.
The ceremony concluded with the administration of the national pledge and the NYSC oath of allegiance to the corps members by Justice Joseph Olukunle Owolari, on behalf of the state’s Chief Judge, Oyetola Adepele Ojo.
