Governor Sanwo-Olu Meets Lagos Assembly’s First Female Speaker, Mojisola Meranda

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, held a key meeting with Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, the newly elected Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, exactly one week after her election. Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1, made history as the first female Speaker of the Assembly following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa. Obasa faced serious allegations, including gross misconduct, mismanagement of funds, and abuse of office.

Meranda, who assumed leadership immediately after her election, demonstrated her commitment to the role by appointing new principal officers last Friday. On Monday, she visited the Governor’s Office in Alausa, Ikeja, accompanied by the new principal officers.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, alongside his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, welcomed Meranda and her delegation just before the State Executive Council meeting. During the visit, Meranda emphasized the importance of aligning the legislative and executive arms of government to foster the state’s continued development.
