Governor Yusuf Responds to APC’s 2027 Claims, Says Power Belongs to God
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dismissed any threats or intimidation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is keen on reclaiming control of the state in the 2027 general election. Speaking at the Government House in Kano, Governor Yusuf made it clear that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)-led administration remains undeterred by the APC’s maneuvers.
This response comes after the presidential candidate of the NNPP in the 2023 elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, stated that he would diminish the APC’s vote share in Kano during the 2027 elections. However, the APC quickly countered, with the party’s Director of Publicity, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, asserting that the NNPP posed no real threat to their ambitions in the state.
Former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, recently echoed similar sentiments during an APC dinner in honor of party members, declaring that the APC would be the dominant force in the 2027 elections. Ganduje also questioned Kwankwaso’s claims of widespread public support, suggesting that Kwankwaso’s past victories were largely due to internal APC challenges. He further predicted that the former governor’s influence in Kano was diminishing.
In his response, Governor Yusuf emphasized that anyone threatening the people of Kano would face serious consequences. “Let me be clear, whoever threatens the good people of Kano will face the consequences. We are ready, and I will not hesitate to take decisive action against them,” he stated firmly.
Governor Yusuf also reminded his critics that power ultimately belongs to God and expressed confidence that no conspiracy could thwart the will of the people of Kano. “Our focus is not on 2027,” he stated. “Our priority is to fulfill the mandate entrusted to us by the people of Kano. We will continue delivering the dividends of democracy and serving our people diligently.”
Concluding his remarks, the governor prayed for the strength and ability to continue fulfilling the mandate while looking forward to a prosperous future for the people of Kano.
