“He Deserves an Evil Forest Burial”: Pastor Enenche Slams Buhari’s Legacy and National Praise
Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has fiercely condemned the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari, asserting that the praise being showered on him after his tenure—and even in death—is a sign of deep national dysfunction and spiritual bondage.
Speaking passionately during a church service in Abuja, Pastor Enenche described the former president as one of the “most wicked persons that ever ruled any country in the world,” citing widespread suffering, insecurity, and mass killings that occurred during Buhari’s administration.
“There is a blanket of evil, a blanket of sorcery, a blanket of the occult that has blanketed our nation,” Enenche declared, lamenting that Nigerians continue to endure pain without protest. “It is a spell of tolerance of suffering, a spell of patience with captivity, being in love with your chains.”
He narrated conversations with a national church leader who spoke of the growing desperation among citizens unable to afford basic needs such as rent, school fees, and food. The situation, Enenche said, reflects a nation overwhelmed by hopelessness.
“It’s uncountable,” he said. “People line up for assistance after service. We’re feeding people, paying medical bills. Yet, the people of the land act as if nothing is happening.”
Enenche criticized leaders at the highest levels of government for being “practically insensitive” and even mocking the suffering of ordinary Nigerians. “Let poor people breathe,” he said sarcastically.
The pastor’s most blistering remarks were directed at the continued praise of former President Buhari.
“One of the most wicked persons that ever ruled any country in the world died, and people are praising him,” he said. “How many youth corps members died in 2014 in Bauchi area because somebody lost an election?”
He accused Buhari of being a “patron of terrorist organisations” and lamented that whole communities were destroyed during his administration. “If not for the kind of country this is, the person deserves a burial in an evil forest,” Enenche stated, referencing a traditional dishonorable burial reserved for those deemed malevolent or cursed.
He concluded with a fervent prayer: “Whatever spell it is, we ask God to break it. Let those who are misgoverning and misruling at every level know that none will see the celebration in their deaths.”
With his comments, Pastor Enenche has reignited debate over Buhari’s controversial legacy, drawing sharp reactions across the political and religious landscape.
