“I Have Neither Filed A Complaint” – Awa Kalu SAN Tells Police Victor Giwa Did Not Forge His Letterhead

In a puzzling twist, lawyer Victor Giwa faces forgery charges despite being publicly cleared by one of Nigeria’s top legal minds, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Prof. Awa Kalu.

Prof. Kalu, who heads the law firm allegedly involved, wrote directly to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, stating he never filed any complaint accusing Giwa of forging his official letterhead. Yet, in the Federal Capital Territory High Court (case CR/150/25), Giwa stands accused of conspiring to forge documents to mislead the Attorney-General of the Federation.

The discrepancy between the SAN’s clear exoneration and the ongoing legal action raises serious questions about the investigation’s credibility and the police’s motives.

Legal experts are scratching their heads: How did such a high-profile charge proceed without the “victim’s” formal complaint? And why is the case moving forward despite this public disavowal?

Victor Giwa insists on his innocence, emphasizing that the disputed document was part of legitimate legal correspondence.
