Igbo Community President Calls for Unity in Rivers State Behind Senator Azuta-Mbata
The President General of the Igbo Community Association (ICA) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Engr. Ikenna Ellis Ezenekwe, has urged the Igbo-speaking people of Rivers State to unite behind Senator John Azuta-Mbata, the newly-elected President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. His call comes amid rising tensions within the Ikwerre community over Senator Azuta-Mbata’s leadership.
In a statement, Ezenekwe congratulated Senator Azuta-Mbata on his election, describing him as a capable and proven leader. He emphasized the importance of unity within the Igbo community, particularly in Rivers State, where there are internal divisions regarding Azuta-Mbata’s leadership.
Ezenekwe stressed that the core values of Ohanaeze are rooted in unity, resilience, and a commitment to advancing the welfare of the Igbo people globally. He reiterated that Ikwerre, a community in Rivers State, is part of the Igbo ethnic group, calling for solidarity and harmony across all factions.
“As the President General of Ndigbo in Abuja, I and the ICA fully support the new leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. We are committed to drawing on our grassroots strength to support this leadership and promote unity within our people,” Ezenekwe stated.
Ezenekwe’s message aims to heal the rifts and bring together the Igbo communities in Rivers State, urging them to overcome divisions and focus on collective progress under the guidance of Senator Azuta-Mbata.
