‘I’m not running’ – British national wanted over alleged move to overthrow Tinubu speaks from UK

Andrew Wynne, the British national, who was declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government, says he is not running.

the police had after declaring Wynne and a Nigerian, one Lucky Ehims wanted, placed a N20 million bounty on them.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyuwa Adejo said in a statement that anyone with information leading to the arrest of the duo would be rewarded N10 million for each of the suspects.

However, addressing the matter on a Channels TV program on Monday, Wynne said he is ready for talks with the Nigeria Police.

Denying the allegation, the British national declared that he could not have been scheming to destabilise the leadership of the Nigerian government, stating that he has been visiting the nation for over 25 years.

He expressed his readiness to meet with officials from the Nigerian High Commission in London for conversation on the allegations.

He said, “I am not aware that I am a fugitive. I am not aware that I am running away from the law.

“I have been visiting Nigeria for 25 years and have had a bookshop in the NLC office right in the centre of Abuja for seven years. All that time, of course, the security forces have paid no interest in me.

“I am more than happy to talk to the police and have a discussion on WhatsApp or Zoom.

“I am more than happy to go to London and meet with officials from the Nigerian High Commission.”
