Involvement of women into drug addiction worrisome – NIS Deputy Comptroller, Fatima
The deputy Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service, Hajiya Fatima has described involvement of women into drug addiction as perplexing and worrisome, urging them to avoid self medication.
The Deputy Comptroller stated this at a one-day sensitization workshop attended by over 200 relevant stakeholders drawn across the State.
The occasion was organized by Zamfara State Substance Control and Human Trafficking Agency, SCHTA, in collaboration with the World Health Organization.
She said that it was very unfortunate and alarming, looking at the proportion of women into drug abuse.
In their separate paper presentations, Pharmacist Mukhtar and other relevant stakeholders lamented the danger of mis-administration of drugs in the form of self medication.
In his own speech, the Deputy Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Gummi assured that the House would provide legislation that would empower the activities of the agency to ensure a free-drug society.
In an interview the Executive Secretary, Zamfara State Substance Control and Human Trafficking Agency, Pharmacist Ishaq Ibrahim Anka said that plans were underway to step down the sensitization to 17 emirates, as well as 447 wards of the state and the Institutions of higher learning.
