Iran President Vows To Make Israel ‘Regret’ Haniyeh Killing
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed Wednesday to make Israel “regret” the “cowardly” killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran will defend its territorial integrity, honour, pride and dignity, and make the terrorist invaders regret their cowardly action,” said Pezeshkian in a post on X where he mourned Haniyeh as “a brave leader”.
Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli strike in Iran, where he had been attending the inauguration of the country’s new president.
Haniyeh’s killing came after Israel on Tuesday struck a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut, killing a senior commander of the Iran-backed group it said was responsible for a weekend rocket attack on the Israel-annexed Golan Heights.
