Israeli Government Confirms Killing Of Hamas Deputy Military Commander In Air Strike

This was announced by Israel’s military spokesperson on Tuesday, revealing that Issa  was killed in an Israeli strike.

“We have checked all the intelligence,” Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a televised statement. “Marwan Issa was eliminated in the strike we carried out around two weeks ago,” he said.

Hamas had no immediate comment.

Issa was on Israel’s most-wanted list, along with Mohammed Deif, the commander of Hamas’ military arm, the Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, and Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’ leader in Gaza, who are suspected of masterminding the group’s October 7 attack on southern Israel, which sparked the Gaza war.

 Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, earlier rejected a proposal for a Gaza war truce by Hamas.

Hamas militants wrote a new plan for a four-and-a-half-month ceasefire in Gaza, during which all hostages were expected to be  released.
