The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a significant financial contribution to the Nigerian government, remitting over N6 billion in 2024. This was part of the board’s total generated income of N22.99 billion for the year.
In its weekly bulletin, the board’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, revealed that JAMB remitted N6,034,605,510.69 to the Nigerian government from its total income. Additionally, the board highlighted that the N1,500 reduction in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) form fees, which benefitted many candidates, increased the total remittance to an impressive N9.01 billion for 2024.
This surplus comes after JAMB successfully conducted the 2024 UTME, with the reduced fees playing a key role in increasing the number of students who benefited, thereby enhancing the remittance.
Since the leadership of Professor Is-haq Oloyede, JAMB has consistently contributed to the national treasury, having remitted over N50 billion in the past seven years.
JAMB’s continued focus on transparency and financial performance underscores its commitment to supporting the nation’s education sector and economy.
