Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Empowers 4,912 Women Through Poverty Alleviation Programme
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has successfully empowered 4,912 underserved women across the state through the “A Kori Taluachi” poverty alleviation programme, a key initiative aimed at promoting economic independence and self-sufficiency among women.
The programme, which is part of the governor’s broader strategy to combat poverty, provides financial support ranging from N50,000 to N300,000 to women who are struggling to meet their daily needs. Governor Sani’s Principal Private Secretary, Prof. Ayuba Bello, shared the details during an interactive session with journalists in Kaduna on Thursday.
“This initiative is designed to uplift women, especially those who face significant economic hardships. The amounts given range from N50,000 to N300,000, with the programme empowering a total of 4,912 women,” Bello explained.
Governor Sani’s commitment to women’s empowerment extends beyond just financial aid. The administration also supported 100 food vendors at the Kaduna Food Festival held in April 2024, with an aim to stimulate the local economy and provide opportunities for small-scale entrepreneurs.
Additionally, the state government has launched a revolving loan scheme for civil servants, offering loans at a low 5% interest rate from a seed fund of N500 million. This scheme is designed to assist public workers in meeting their financial obligations and improving their standard of living.
