Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Reflects on His 62nd Birthday with Emotional Visit to Father’s Grave
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, marked his 62nd birthday in a solemn and reflective manner, paying a heartfelt visit to the grave of his late father, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf, at Dandolo graveyard in Kano.
The emotional visit, described in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawaki Tofa, was a moment of remembrance for the man who shaped Governor Yusuf’s values and propelled him into public service. Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf, a former representative of Kaduna Metropolitan in the regional parliament, was known for his honest administration and unwavering commitment to his community.
Governor Yusuf paid glowing tribute to his father, saying, “My father lived an enviable life that exemplified service leadership, character, humility, and uncompromising dedication to justice. He will continue to inspire me in all that I do.”
The governor also honored his mother, Malama Khadijatul-Naja’atu, a respected school teacher and renowned female Islamic scholar. Reflecting on her influence, he shared, “My mother taught me the importance of education, faith, and compassion—values that have stayed with me throughout my life.”
Accompanied by family members, aides, and close confidants, Governor Yusuf prayed for his parents, asking Allah, Subhannahu Wata’alla, to grant them entry into Jannatul Firdaus.
Speaking about the significance of his birthday observance, the governor said, “Celebrating my birthday at my father’s grave serves as a reminder of where I come from and the values that define me. It is also an opportunity to reaffirm my commitment to serving the people of Kano with the same dedication that my father had for his community.”
