“Kano Governor Appoints New Leadership for Sharia and Zakkat Commissions to Tackle Poverty”
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially inaugurated the new Chairmen, Commissioners, and members of the Sharia Commission and the Zakkat & Hubusi Commission. The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
During the inauguration ceremony, Governor Yusuf stressed that the appointments were made based on merit, competence, and trustworthiness. He expressed strong confidence in the appointees’ abilities to fulfill their roles with dedication, integrity, and enthusiasm.
Governor Yusuf outlined the primary tasks of the newly appointed officials, highlighting their responsibility to foster peace and stability in the state. He tasked the Sharia Commission with promoting unity among various Muslim sects in order to create a peaceful and harmonious society that encourages socioeconomic development.
Similarly, the Governor emphasized that the Zakkat & Hubusi Commission would play a pivotal role in tackling poverty. He directed the commission to implement effective strategies for collecting Zakkat from wealthy individuals to support the less privileged, aiming to significantly reduce poverty in the state.

- Chairman: Sheikh Abbas Abubakar Daneji
- Permanent Commissioners: Malam Yahaya Gwani Hadi, Sheikh Ali Dan Abba
- Secretary: Sheikh Dr. Sani Ashir
- Members: Malam Abubakar Mai Ashafa, Malam Naziru Saminu Dorayi, Sheikh Mukhtar Mama, Sheikh Ibrahim Inuwa, Malam Adamu Ibrahim, Alhaji Abubakar Sharif Bala, Alhaji Yawale Suleiman Gulu, Malam Aliyu Umar, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Na’bi, Malam Nasiru Sheikh Aliyu Harazimi
For the Zakkat & Hubusi Commission, the appointments include:
- Chairman: Barrister Habibu Dan Almajiri
- Permanent Commissioners: Sheikh Nafi’u Umar Harazimi, Dr. Ali Quraish
- Members: Malam Yahaya Muhammad Kwana Hudu, Sheikh Hassan Sani Kafinga, Sheikh Arabi Tudun Nufawa, Malam Sani Sharif Umar, Professor Garba Muhammadu Tofa, Malam Adamu Muhammadu Andawo, Malam Surajo Usman, Sheikh Adamu Guda, Malam Inuwa Mustapha, Malam Nura Badamasi, Malam Abdullahi Sarkin Sharifai, and a Representative from the Kano State Civil Service Commission.
