Kano Governor Pledges Support for Security Agencies, Approves Land and Funds for POWA Secretariat

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in the state to ensure the safety and security of lives and property.

This pledge was made during a courtesy visit by Mrs. Elizabeth Kayode Egbetokun, wife of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), who led the association’s executive members to the Governor’s office.

In a statement issued by Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Director-General of Media and Publicity at Kano Government House, Governor Yusuf expressed his unwavering support for the police and all security agencies, particularly through the provision of logistics and operational vehicles.

“The security of lives and property is critical to the well-being and progress of our people,” Governor Yusuf stated. “We remain steadfast in supporting the police and other security agencies to ensure a secure and peaceful Kano State.”

Governor Yusuf commended Mrs. Egbetokun for her dedication to improving the welfare of police officers and their families, noting that her initiatives align with national efforts led by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu to empower women across the country.

As part of his support for POWA’s activities, Governor Yusuf approved land allocation and financial aid for the construction of a POWA Secretariat in Kano. This move is seen as a significant step toward enhancing the welfare of police families in the state.

Earlier, Mrs. Egbetokun briefed the Governor on POWA’s ongoing projects in Kano, including an empowerment program and the commissioning of a new health center in Panshekara. She praised the Kano State Government’s efforts in empowering women and called for stronger collaboration to further enhance the welfare and economic stability of POWA members.

“Together, we can ensure a secure and prosperous future for the families of police officers,” Mrs. Egbetokun remarked, emphasizing the need for continued support and cooperation.

Governor Yusuf concluded the meeting by reiterating his commitment to working with security agencies, including the police, to maintain peace and security in Kano State.
