“Kano Police Warns Residents of Possible Terror Attacks, Urges Vigilance”

The Kano State Police Command has issued a security advisory urging residents to avoid crowded places following intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations across the state.

A statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, was released to DAILY POST, highlighting the need for heightened vigilance and caution. The statement read, “The Kano State Police Command has received intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning to launch attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations within Kano State.”

In response to the threat, the police have called on residents to avoid densely populated areas and public spaces until further notice. The directive is a preventive measure to allow security agencies to carry out operations aimed at identifying and neutralizing potential threats.

SP Kiyawa reassured the public that security measures are in place to protect residents and ensure peace in the state. He also mentioned that specialized units from the command, including the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) units, have been deployed to key areas and are on high alert.

“We urge all residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or items to the police using the following numbers: 08169884988 or 07067157218,” Kiyawa added.

The police have emphasized the importance of community cooperation and vigilance in ensuring the safety of the public, especially in light of the ongoing threat of terrorist activities.
