Kano State Governor Appoints New Commissioners and Advisers, Outlines Development Agenda

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially sworn in seven new commissioners and 12 advisers, marking a significant step towards strengthening his administration’s governance structure. The ceremony, held at the Government House in Kano, was attended by prominent government officials, lawmakers, and key stakeholders, reflecting strong support for the Governor’s leadership.

In his address to the newly appointed officials, Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of their roles in advancing the state’s development agenda. He urged them to approach their responsibilities with unwavering dedication and a deep commitment to service.

The Governor explained that the appointments were made after careful deliberation to ensure the selection of qualified individuals who will contribute effectively to the realization of his administration’s priorities. He listed these priorities, including infrastructure development, improved education, better healthcare services, empowerment of women and youth, ensuring access to clean water, and supporting agricultural growth.

The new commissioners appointed include:

  • Ibrahim Waiya as Commissioner for Information
  • Shehu Wada Sagagi as Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, and Industries
  • Dr. Ismail Aliyu Danmaraya as Commissioner for Finance
  • Dr. Shehu Sani as Commissioner for Power and Sustainable Energy
  • Dr. Dahiru Hashimu as Commissioner for Environment
  • Abdulkadir Abdulsalam as Commissioner for Rural Development
  • Nura Iro Ma’aji as Commissioner for Public Procurement

Governor Yusuf emphasized the need for collaboration among the appointees, urging them to work cohesively to meet the expectations of the people and successfully deliver on the administration’s goals. He reiterated his commitment to fulfilling the promises made during the campaign, noting that his administration would address the state’s pressing issues with a sense of urgency and accountability.
