Kano State’s Land Recertification Deadline Looms: Over 2000 Lands Already Updated
The Kano State Government has reaffirmed that the deadline for land recertification on January 31, 2025, is final, with the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning announcing that over 2,000 lands have already been successfully recertified since the process began in 2024.
In a Friday morning update to the press, the State Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Mr. Abduljabar Muhammad Umar, made it clear that there would be no extensions to the deadline. He highlighted the significant progress made so far, with more than one million activities conducted by landowners who have come forward for forms, registration, and other recertification processes.
Umar warned that any landowners who fail to complete the recertification by the end of January risk losing their land titles. “We have provided ample opportunity for landowners to recertify their land titles,” Umar said. “Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf believes in policies that serve the best interests of the people of Kano, and the deadline was set to ensure everyone has the chance to complete the process.”
Looking ahead, Umar noted that once the recertification exercise is concluded, the Ministry will begin certifying houses, shops, and farmlands. He encouraged property owners to take full advantage of the recertification process to ensure the legitimacy of their properties.
The Commissioner assured landowners that, with only a week left before the deadline, ministry officials will be available to assist anyone needing to renew their land titles.
