Katsina announces N5bn women empowerment fund to build stronger economy
Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, has launched a transformative ₦5 billion women empowerment programme designed to bolster micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises across the state.
He disclosed this on Sunday during the launch of a grant distribution ceremony for 7,000 women from the North-West region, held at the Local Government Service Commission conference hall in Katsina.
The event was a collaborative effort involving the National Assembly Members’ Spouse Forum, the Federal College of
Horticulture, Dadin Kowa, and AT&T Green Energy Solution.
Commending the initiative, which provided ₦30,000 grants to 1,000 women from Katsina State, Radda stated:
“Empowering our women is crucial for building resilient families and a stronger economy. This comprehensive empowerment programme represents our administration’s dedication to women’s financial independence and economic growth.”
Radda further encouraged the wives of State Assembly members and Local Government Chairmen to initiate similar programmes in their constituencies.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hadiza Abubakar Yaradua, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to implementing the ₦5 billion programme, emphasising its focus on verified women entrepreneurs engaged in small and medium-scale businesses.
National Coordinator of the Forum, Hajiya Yasmin Muazu, highlighted that the current initiative benefits 7,000 women across 186 local government areas in the North-West region, showcasing a broader approach to women’s economic empowerment.
