Katsina State Distributes Over N50 Million to Support Banditry Victims in Three LGAs
In a significant move to assist communities affected by banditry, the Katsina State government has distributed over N50 million to victims of recent attacks in Matazu, Kankia, and Batsari local government areas.
The Senior Special Assistant on Victims of Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Saidu Ibrahim Danja, was on hand to present the financial support to the beneficiaries. He made it clear that the funds were not intended as compensation but as crucial support to help ease the ongoing hardships faced by the victims.
Danja explained that the distribution of funds followed a thorough assessment of the affected individuals in these three local government areas. The funds were released based on the directive of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, whose administration has been providing similar assistance for the past two years to those who have lost loved ones and those displaced by bandit attacks.
Highlighting the importance of community collaboration, Danja also called upon the people of Katsina to join in prayers for an end to the prevailing insecurity and to actively assist security agencies by sharing information on criminal hideouts.
Musa Maikudi, the Chairman of Kankia Local Government, also spoke during the event, urging beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously and commended the state government for its proactive steps in addressing the pressing issue of insecurity.
This initiative is a testament to Governor Radda’s commitment to supporting the victims and alleviating the devastating effects of banditry in the state.
