Kogi Gains Approval for Electricity Management

The National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved Kogi State’s request to independently manage electricity generation and distribution within its territory. This decision is poised to significantly improve power supply in the state, a move expected to enhance business activities and economic growth.

Engineer Abdulmutalib Muhammed, the state’s Commissioner for Rural and Energy Development, disclosed this development during a press briefing following a State Executive Council meeting. He also announced a directive from the council to ensure the electrification of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp within one week. This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to improving living conditions for displaced individuals and addressing pressing infrastructure needs.
