Kogi Governor Seeks Collaboration with NASRDA to Boost Agriculture, Security, and Land Reforms
Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has called on the management of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) to work in synergy with his administration to tackle the growing insecurity in the state. He also urged the agency to contribute to advancing agriculture, improving food security, expediting land reforms, and enhancing other critical sectors by utilizing the agency’s existing space technology and innovative capabilities.
Governor Ododo made this request during a meeting with NASRDA’s Director-General, Dr. Mathew Adepoju. The meeting highlighted the Governor’s vision for leveraging space technology to foster development across various sectors in the state.
According to a statement from Ismaila Isah, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Governor Ododo assured that the Kogi State government is fully committed to partnering with NASRDA to improve the state’s Geographic Information System (GIS). This partnership aims to facilitate land reforms, boost agriculture and food sufficiency, ensure the security of lives and property, and contribute to the overall economic development of the state.
Governor Ododo acknowledged the advanced technological resources available at NASRDA and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the state and the agency. He urged NASRDA’s leadership to provide the necessary support to implement the goals outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the agency and Kogi State late last year in Lokoja.
In response, Dr. Adepoju commended Governor Ododo for the significant progress made in Kogi State within the first year of his administration, particularly in the area of infrastructure development. He also expressed gratitude to the Governor for embracing space technology as a tool for combating insecurity and promoting development. Dr. Adepoju assured the Governor that NASRDA would continue to partner with Kogi State to drive further progress and development for the benefit of the people of the state and the nation at large.
