Kwankwaso Denies Rumors of Power-Sharing Agreement with Atiku and Obi
Former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has forcefully denied rumors suggesting that he, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) had struck a deal to share power in alternating terms.
In an interview with the BBC, Kwankwaso expressed his frustration with the false reports, stating that he had no knowledge of such an agreement. He revealed that he had only heard that Atiku’s camp had been meeting with regional leaders and religious figures to spread the narrative. Kwankwaso categorically rejected the fabricated story, which claimed that Atiku would serve for four years, followed by him for another four years, and Obi would serve the remaining eight years.
Kwankwaso, who defected from the PDP to the NNPP, explained that his decision to leave the PDP was motivated by the “humiliation” he and his supporters experienced within the party. He condemned the lies and deceit that prompted his departure, stressing that it was these very issues that led him, along with others such as Peter Obi and Nyesom Wike, to break away from the PDP.
“These are the same people who now come back, asking for our help to achieve their goals after humiliating us,” Kwankwaso said, reiterating that he had no part in any alleged power-sharing arrangement.
