Kwara Governor Abdulrazaq Praises Tinubu’s Impact on Economic Growth and Security
The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, attributing them to significant development at the state level.
Abdulrazaq made the comments on Wednesday during a New Year visit to President Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos. He expressed pride in the progress achieved, stating that his state had undertaken more projects in less than two years of Tinubu’s administration than in his entire first term.
“I have not completed two years in this administration, but I’ve already accomplished more projects in this short period than in the four years of my first term. This is thanks to the structural adjustments and economic reforms you’ve implemented, which are enabling us to secure more funding,” he stated.
He acknowledged that while inflation is a challenge, the benefits of these economic policies have outweighed the impact of rising prices, allowing for substantial development across states.
Abdulrazaq also highlighted the success of Tinubu’s agricultural policies, pointing to a bumper harvest in Jigawa State as a positive outcome. He noted that the harvest was so abundant that the produce was being exported, further emphasizing the importance of strengthening local food security.
“The policies are working,” he affirmed. “In agriculture, the bumper harvest in Jigawa is a testament to that. The challenge now is to store the surplus, so we are encouraging states to build silos and prepare for future needs. Our goal is not only to ensure 100% food security in Nigeria but to feed all of West Africa.”
The governor assured President Tinubu of the governors’ unwavering support in tackling security issues and fostering economic growth across the nation, stating that progress in security is evident and that states will continue to contribute to local security initiatives.
“Security is improving, and all states will remain committed to enhancing our security frameworks,” Abdulrazaq added.
