Lagos Taskforce Arrests 53 Suspected Drug Dealers in Major Gowon Estate Sting
In a major operation aimed at curbing the illicit drug trade, the Lagos State Taskforce has apprehended 53 suspected drug dealers in Gowon Estate, Ipaja. The sting operation, carried out after weeks of intense surveillance, targeted notorious black spots associated with drug distribution across the area.
The operation focused on key locations such as the 31 Road Junction, Bless Jah Street, Adenle Crescent, Owo Omo Osho Street, and parts of Okunola Road within Mosan-Okunola LCDA, Alimosho LGA, which have long been linked to illegal drug activities.
During the operation, authorities uncovered large quantities of illicit substances, including Colorado, marijuana, tramadol capsules, codeine syrups, and suspected Canadian loud. In addition, drug trade tools like weighing scales and marijuana crushers were also seized.
Officials revealed that the drug dealers had been targeting young men and women, enticing them into the trade with cash incentives. Those who resisted the offer were reportedly intimidated and harassed by cult gang members who operated in the area.
All suspects are now in custody and will face prosecution. The Lagos State Taskforce has reiterated its unwavering commitment to eliminating drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety of its residents by continuing its crackdown on such illegal activities.
