Local Hunters and Vigilantes Rescue Five Wedding Guests Abducted in Kwara State
Local hunters and vigilantes have successfully rescued five wedding guests who were abducted last Saturday while traveling from Kogi State to Odo-Owa community in Kwara State. The victims were seized around 4 p.m. in Obbo-Ayegunle, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, by gunmen who demanded a N100 million ransom for their release.
Reports revealed that the victims, all members of the same family, were freed on Tuesday after a joint effort by local hunters and vigilantes. In addition to the five wedding guests, unconfirmed sources indicate that eight other captives were also rescued during the operation.
The Chairman of Oke-Ero Local Government Area visited the victims at the hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment following their ordeal.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, for comment on the rescue operation were unsuccessful as of Wednesday.
