LP Crisis: Abure supporters hold protest in Abuja

Supporters of the factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, on Monday, took to the streets in Gudu, Abuja, to protest what they described as the meddlesomeness of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in the affairs of the party.

The protesters carrying placards with various inscriptions began their march from the new Abuja chapter secretariat.

The NLC had earlier accused Abure of running the affairs of the LP as a sole administrator. As a result, the NLC passed a vote of no confidence in the leadership of the national chair of the party and consequently called for his resignation.

The friction between the two organizations has captured public attention and raised questions about the legality of NLC to check LP and the underlying causes and implications of their dispute.

It was gathered that the sole reason for the conflict was the battle for control of the party structure.
