A Chief Magistrate Court in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State, convicted Mr. Nuhu Isah to six months in prison, with an option to pay a fine of N20,000, following an incident on January 5, 2025. Isah, a passer-by, was found guilty of intimidating a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) patrol team while they were performing their duties.
According to a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, Isah not only recorded the FRSC officers but also encouraged passengers to mob the team, disrupting their lawful operation. This act of aggression led to his swift conviction by the Chief Magistrate Court.
In response to the conviction, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, emphasized the importance of road safety and urged all road users to cooperate with law enforcement officers. “The FRSC remains committed to creating safer roads, and threats from miscreants will not deter us,” he affirmed.
This conviction sends a clear message about the legal consequences of disrupting law enforcement duties and the ongoing efforts to ensure safer highways for all.
