“Matawalle Slams Lawal: North Won’t Betray Tinubu!”
Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has strongly countered comments by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, about President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election prospects, insisting that the North is unwavering in its support for the president. In a bold statement on Monday, Matawalle dismissed Lawal’s remarks as divisive and emphasized that Tinubu’s administration has made notable strides in security, infrastructure, and economic reforms.
Matawalle detailed significant security achievements, including the neutralization of over 8,000 terrorists and the rescue of around 8,000 kidnap victims. He also pointed out the president’s focus on improving the North’s infrastructure and pushing for local government autonomy.
“Any insinuation of discord is a deliberate attempt to undermine national unity,” Matawalle declared, urging critics to assess Tinubu’s record fairly and continue supporting his vision for a prosperous Nigeria.
