Military Strikes at Bello Turji’s Camp, Kills Key Commanders in Operation Fansan Yamma

The Nigerian military has confirmed the neutralization of key commanders of notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, in an ongoing operation named Operation Fansan Yamma.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, the operation led to the death of Turji’s second-in-command, Aminu Kanawa, along with several high-ranking commanders and close allies.

The operation, carried out between January 20 and 21, targeted terrorist hideouts in the Gebe and Isa Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Sokoto State, as well as the Gidan Rijiya area in Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara State. During this period, over 24 terrorists from Turji’s camp were eliminated.

Among those neutralized were key figures such as Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe. The military also inflicted terminal injuries on Dosso, Turji’s younger brother, and Danbokolo, one of his closest allies.

In a separate encounter at the Fakai high ground, Suleiman, a loyalist of the late terrorist leader Halilu Sububu, was killed while attempting to reinforce Turji’s camp.

Maj-Gen. Buba expressed confidence that these significant victories would disrupt Turji’s operations, contributing to the ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the region.
