NAHCON Staff Honored For Returning $10,000 Found on Egyptian Flight
Awwal Dankode, a dedicated staff member of NAHCON Aviance, has been honored with an Integrity and Probity Award by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission. Dankode was recognized for his honesty after returning $10,000 that he found on an Egyptian aircraft at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Dankode, along with seven other individuals, was celebrated as an anti-corruption icon during a town hall meeting held in Kano, which was part of the International Anti-Corruption Day observance. In addition to Dankode, Umar Bello, a Ward Head from the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital area, received an award for his contribution in resolving a 25-year-long land dispute in the Darmanawa layout. The case was resolved after Bello presented his late father’s land sale agreement papers, which had been signed when he was the village head.
The Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, was also recognized with an integrity award for his groundbreaking judicial reforms, which have helped curb corruption within the state’s judiciary. Other awardees included ACP Suleman Gusau, Salisu Balarabe, Barrister Rabi Ibrahim Waya, Abba Al-Mustapha, and CSP Sunday Osogwu, OC Legal, all of whom were acknowledged for their relentless efforts in the fight against corruption.
During the event, the chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, revealed that the state government, following the signing of an executive order by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, would take over the prosecution of illegal land deals. He also disclosed the commission’s uncovering of a syndicate involved in illegal land dealings, known as ‘Yan Kasa ta Allah ce’ (Land belongs to Allah).
