NANS Lagos hails stakeholders for successful intercampus debate, security summit
The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Lagos Axis, has lauded various stakeholders for the success of the recently conducted security summit and intercampus debate organised at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, Ikorodu, Lagos.
According the Chairman, NANS Lagos Axis, Comrade Lekan Idris, the success of the two in one event was due to the collaborative efforts of all involved.
The event, which brought together representatives from various tertiary institutions across Lagos, was a platform for meaningful discussions and thought-provoking debates.
“We extend our deepest appreciation to the Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, whose steadfast support and leadership were key to the success of this programme. His dedication to advancing education in Lagos State continues to inspire and empower us all.
“We also offer special thanks to the Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adegoke, for his commitment to enhancing campus security. His presence and the contributions from the Lagos State Police Command played a crucial role in shaping the outcomes of the summit.
“Our sincere gratitude goes to the Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe for his esteemed presence and valuable insights. His support is a testament to his unwavering commitment to the welfare of students in Lagos.
“We are particularly grateful to Hon. Kappo Samuel, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Union Affairs, for his continuous advocacy and support for student-related initiatives. His involvement was vital to the success of this event.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Commanding Officer of the 174 Battalion, Ikorodu, represented by the 2IC, Major Ukwani. Their strategic perspectives on security matters provided a solid foundation for the summit’s discussions on safety within our campuses.
“Additionally, we would like to express our deep appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, and the entire management team for their exceptional hospitality in hosting this event. Their support ensured a conducive environment for both the summit and the debate, significantly contributing to the event’s overall success.
“We also acknowledge and thank the esteemed judges for their critical role in the Intercampus Debate. Their fair and insightful evaluations ensured that the most deserving talents were recognized. We are grateful for their dedication and expertise in fostering excellence among our students, ” he said.
Idris commended institutions that took part in the debate, saying their participation was appreciated.
The duo of Israel Ogundele and Isibor Anointed, representing Yaba College of Technology, Yabatech, came first, while Chilaka Shedrach and Nwaeze Bredan of Saint Augustine College of Education (SACOED), Akoka came second. The third position was clinched by Saheed Sunday and Umar Sherifah of the Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo.
“These outstanding debaters demonstrated exceptional intellectual capabilities and represented their institutions with great honour. We congratulate them on their well-deserved victories and look forward to their future accomplishments.
