Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has inaugurated a four-member committee to probe allegations surrounding the recent recruitment of teachers by the Nasarawa State Teachers’ Service Commission (NSTSC). The committee is tasked with investigating claims of irregularities in the recruitment process across the state’s 13 local government areas.
The inauguration took place at the Government House in Lafia, with Governor Sule stressing the importance of diligence, impartiality, and transparency in the committee’s work. He urged the members to justify the trust placed in them by ensuring a fair and thorough investigation.
The governor expressed concern over reports suggesting that government officials involved in the recruitment had exceeded the approved number of teacher positions. This led to the immediate suspension of the NSTSC chairman and other members.
“This situation is worrisome and could tarnish the image of both the government and the state if not addressed swiftly,” Governor Sule remarked. He emphasized the need for accountability and transparency in government affairs and explained that the committee’s task is to verify the allegations and offer recommendations for corrective actions.
