Naval Officer Stabbed in Kaduna — 27 Suspects Nabbed in Retaliatory Raid
A naval officer was stabbed by a suspected hoodlum in the Kawo area of Kaduna State on Sunday evening, triggering a swift and massive security crackdown that led to the arrest of 27 suspected criminals.
The joint operation, carried out at about 8:30 p.m. on June 8, involved operatives from the Kaduna State Police Command, Nigerian military, DSS, KADGIS, and local vigilantes. The team stormed criminal hideouts in Kawo and nearby neighbourhoods, dismantling gang havens and seizing a cache of weapons and hard drugs.
Recovered items include knives, axes, cutlasses, and large quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other narcotics.
According to the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, the operation was part of a wider mission to restore law and order and send a clear message to violent criminals.
“Kaduna is a peaceful state and will remain so. We will not tolerate anyone disrupting the peace,” Muhammad said.
Police PRO, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrests, adding that the suspects are currently under investigation and will be charged accordingly.
The officer attacked is said to be recovering, though the police did not provide additional details about his condition.
